Soy Wax?

Lucerna uses 100% soy wax for our candles, not a blend of paraffin/soy or palm/soy wax, and our cleansing bars are also free from palm oil. None of our products contain any animal products, nor are they or their ingredients tested on animals. Our products are made in Australia using ingredients sourced from Australian businesses.

Palm Oil Free

Whilst we feel that sustainable sources of palm oil are a preferable option if a business chooses to use palm oil, Lucerna will always remain palm oil free in all our products.

Lucerna also produces unscented soy wax tealights for use in oil burners. Whilst tealights can be purchased elsewhere, some are made with paraffin and/or palm wax and there is a possibility they may have lead in their wicks. The plastic tealight cups we use are flame retardant and recyclable. As with all the wicks used at Lucerna, the tealights are made with cotton wicks that contain absolutely no lead, and the wax is 100% soy wax.

Soy wax has a lower melting point than other waxes that can be used in candle making, which reduces the risk of serious burns if the wax comes into contact with skin. If soy wax is spilled, it can be easily removed with soap and warm water.

Added benefits of soy wax candles include the fact that it is biodegradable, environmentally-friendly, renewable, non-toxic and does not cause soot or stains when burning. The lower melt point means a slower burn, resulting in a longer lasting candle.

We do not add colour to our candles, preferring a more natural look that blends with any surrounding, however some vanilla based fragrances can affect the colour of wax over time and may discolour it slightly to a light tan. This will not affect the fragrance nor the burning of the candle.
